Woollyback Films was founded by Alan Fleet in October 2007.  Taking its name from the original itinerant workers who came in from the countryside to work on the docks in Liverpool, the Cheshire-based company kept with this tradition when the filming of Giri, Alan's first short film, went ahead in Liverpool and Birkenhead in January 2008. Giri has won three festival awards to date.

Alan's second short film, A Good Slap, was shot in Dec 2009 with post-production being completed in April 2010.  The film is now being shown on the festival circuit.

Alan, a published novelist, began screenwriting in 2003 after his first novel Woollyback was chosen by the UK Film Council to be the subject of a tutored adaptation at the prestigious Bournemouth University Film School.  Alan went on to complete a MA in Screenwriting in 2006.
